Gatherist supports flexible groups
- Groups can have an unlimited number of members, organizers, and admins.
- The group administrators have full control over all aspects of group, events, members, and attendees.
- Group organizers have the ability to add, edit, and cancel events in the group, as well as manage attendees.
- An event host has the ability to edit and cancel an event and manage attendees.
- Only group members can see the attendees for events.
Gatherist groups can be as open or private as desired
- Admins can optionally ask members a set of questions before they join.
- Groups can be public (visible to everybody) or private where only members can see the events.
- Groups can be open (members are immediately accepted) or closed (an admin must approve each member).
- Admins can remove members at any time, or promote any member to organizer or admin.
Gatherist supports flexible events
- Creating an event is quick and easy.

- Events can have an unlimited of attendees and hosts.
- Or set a limit on the number of attendees, which will automatically create a waitlist.
- Attendees joining over the limit will be placed on the waitlist on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Hosts and organizers may promote attendees off the waitlist.
- Optionally set an open and/or close date and time for RSVPs.
- Optionally allow attendees to bring guests.
- Attendees can change their RSVP.
- Hosts and organizers can:
- Modify the RSVP and number of guests of any attendee.
- Take attendance for an event.
Gatherist empowers group admins
- Group admins can view basic information about each member:
- When the member joined the group, list of events attended, last event attended.
- Answers to group questions.
- Number of strikes:
- No-shows: RSVPs, but does not show up.
- Late-declines: changes to “not going” within 24 hours of the event or after the RSVP end time.
- Gatecrashings: showing up without an RSVP.
- Or view a list of all members sortable by any of the fields above.

Gatherist features messaging without spam
- Messaging on Gatherist is controlled in order to reduce spamming.
- Only group admins and organizers can:
- Post messages in the group to all members.
- Message any member, and members can message the admins and organizers.
- Event hosts can message attendees, and attendees can message the hosts.
- Attendees can post messages in the event to all attendees.
- Besides those rules, any two people on Gatherist can only message each other if they’ve attended an event together in the past.
- Members control their own notifications.
