  • Identity & Profile Data: Name, profile picture, and biography.
  • Contact Data: Email address.

  • Payment Processing: We use Lemon Squeezy as our payment provider. When a Group Admin purchases a subscription, we share their name and email address with Lemon Squeezy to facilitate the transaction.
  • Group Admins: By default, member email addresses are not shared with Group Admins. We may offer an option to share your email with an admin in the future, but this will strictly require your explicit opt-in consent.
  • Service Providers: We may employ third-party companies to facilitate our Service (e.g., hosting). These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform specific tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your data is:

  • Contractual Necessity: To provide the account and notification services you request.
  • Legitimate Interests: To maintain the security and integrity of Gatherist.
  • Consent: For any data sharing or communications outside of core service notifications.

We believe in giving you full control over your information:

  • Retention: We retain your Personal Data for as long as your account is active.
  • Correction & Access: You can update your profile information at any time through your account settings.
  • Deletion: You may delete your Personal Data at any time via your profile page. Deletion is permanent and removes your name, email, and biography.
    • Note: Your messages and event history will remain on the site for community continuity but will be fully anonymized.
    • Backups: Data may persist in encrypted database backups for up to 1 month after account deletion.

6. Cookies

We use cookies to store session information and maintain your login state. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies; however, if you do not accept cookies, you will be unable to use the authenticated portions of our Service.

7. International Transfers & Restrictions

Data Location: Gatherist is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the U.S., please be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Jurisdictional Restrictions (China): Due to the complex and stringent requirements of the People’s Republic of China’s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), Gatherist does not knowingly provide services to, or collect data from, residents of China. If you are a resident of China, please do not use this Service.

Gatherist is intended for users who are at least 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 16. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from a user under 16 without verification of parental consent, we will take immediate steps to remove that information from our servers.

The security of your Personal Information is important to us. We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, though no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
