About
Gatherist.org is a site for organizing groups and events. It was started out of a desire to have an inexpensive and easy way to find people with similar interests, or to make friends in a new town.
We believe in Purpose Over Profit. What does that mean exactly? Well, it means that even though we are a business and need to make money to thrive, that isn’t what we’re passionate about. We’re passionate about giving back and making a difference when and where we can.
Gatherist also values our group organizers and event hosts. We will not take away control of the groups or events (unless there as a violation of the Terms of Service). For example, wait lists will always function as outlined below, giving organizers and hosts full control.
Features:
- No ads.
- Gatherist will not charge to join groups or attend events. There will be no paid tier with special perks.
- Group admins have full control over their groups.
- Event hosts (and group organizers) have full control over their events.
- People can see other’s full profile and message each other on the platform for free, after they’ve attending an event together.
Beta
The site is currently offered as a beta product while we finish developing the rest of the major features. Feature suggestions are welcome. Please email us at support[at]gatherist.org. You can keep track of our progress on our Releases page.
