Though the first 15 miles are uphill, the average gradient is just 0.6%. So, this ride is fairly flat with a maximum gradient of 5% at mile 7.7. There is road construction on Valencia which may require walking a short distance.
Ride Description:
We’ll start from Udall and ride the Loop to Rita Road. Then we’ll ride Rita Road back to the Loop at the Julian Wash, riding first up the Houghton Extension and from the End of the Extension down to the Roy Schoonover Trailhead where we’ll have a rest break (there are two other rest stops which can be utilized on an “as needed” basis).
We’ll return on the same route; except we’ll turn right at Rita Road when we reach it and exclude riding up the extension for a second time.
Find the route and cue sheet here.
This is a C paced ride meaning the final average should be between 12-14 MPH, though the pace during the ride may exceed that occasionally. Riders should stay within sight of the main group unless told otherwise. Ie. Riding at your own pace to a certain point
